Pan de Vida
This piece is dedicated to SAY Sí. As part of the theme for that years project, students were tasked to choose on cultural object about the celebration and expand on it.

I decided to do a paper clay pan de muerto (bread of the dead) for my project because I wanted to expand my expertise in clay. I also wanted to do a cultural food for this year's project because I wanted to learn more about what this specific food symbolizes in this celebration. The pan de muerto has major symbolism. The outer ring of lines of dough represent the bones of the deceased; the circular piece of dough in the middle represents the Lady of the Dead's tears. I chose paper clay because I have used it before and it held great promise. I hope to continue this idea next year.
